An Expert Opinion.

Dr. Nicoson serves as an expert for hand, wrist and nerve injuries.

Dr. Nicoson has many years of experience in preparing legal medical reports. His clinical practice is limited to the exclusive treatment of hand, wrist and nerve injuries, and therefore only prepares medical reports in these areas. He prepares reports on personal injuries, work related upper limb disorders and clinical negligence and receives requests from both defendant and claimant attorneys. Dr. Nicoson schedules IMEs and legal work directly through his practice.

IMEs

Dr. Nicoson currently performs IME’s for hand, wrist and nerve issues for attorney offices across Kentucky and beyond.  His IME reports are thorough, detailed and focus on the pertinent clinical aspects of the case.  In his IME reports, he will address all specific attorney questions, calculate impairment ratings, address causation and discuss need for future treatment as necessary.

  • The range of injuries that he reviews vary from fingertip injuries to catastrophic upper extremity injuries with significant ongoing functional limitations.

  • Each report is based on a thorough assessment with interview of the claimant followed by a clinical examination.

  • Great care will be taken to determine the mechanism injury, initial and subsequent treatment, and the functional limitations that the claimant may be suffering in the past, present and offer a future prognosis.

  • He will determine the impact on past and future employment and also give an opinion upon impairment ratings.

  • The report with be fully compliant with AMA Guidelines.


Depositions

Dr. Nicoson is willing to give depositions in cases related to hand, wrist and nerve injuries. He is thorough in his review of all medical records and offers his expert opinion in regard to the questions asked during the deposition.


Impairment Ratings

Dr. Nicoson will address impairment ratings along with causation in his reports after a thorough in person examination of the patient. He is also able to review medical records and offer an opinion on rating if measurements are included in records.
